WITHDRAWAL OF FUNDING 2017

February 21, 2017
Sadly the funding from the Salcombe Road land sale which we were promised for the Broad Walk entrance and the small new entrance from Redcatch Road has been taken back in the current spending freeze at the city council.

The Wellbeing Fund has also been stopped and we had agreement for funding for the last of our murals - on the toilet block.

I have though been successful in securing funding from the Nisbit Foundation so the mural can go ahead!  I will post details on FB when this is being painted by David Bryant.

We are exploring other possible funding for the Redcatch Road entrance but this is proving to be more expensive than we planned because BCC seem insistent that we have a chicane which is DDA compliant when we only wanted a small pinch gate entrance.

With the felling of the beautiful silver leafed Maple we felt it would be a good idea to make some use of the logs by putting them in the play area but also make use of the stump.  So FORP has found enough money in the kitty to pay for our wonderful bench carver to return to the park and carve an owl on top of the stump.  Another fine piece of art work for the park.

With land sale money becoming available to Knowle Ward we are costing various plans, discussed at our recent FORP meeting, for improvements around the park.  The list is an aspiration and we can't promise we can secure funding for everything but by not being too ambitious we might!  These include Improving the main entrance with increased parking, disabled parking and more attractive entrance. The flowerbed will be reinstated inside the park and replanted. A short gravel path from Stoneleigh ...

New Benches

October 24, 2014
Three new attractive benches have been installed - two on existing empty plinths, with a third where users requested - alongside the new path around football pitches. These were purchased from a generous donation from Bristol South Croquet club which are sadly closing this month. Thank you to all the members.  We now have no empty plinth which is a wonderful achievement because 14 years ago there were no usable seats in the park. We will continue to seek funding to add additional seats and re...
